Run by For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST), FLL is a global science and technology competition for students, that aims to encourage an interest in real world issues and develop key skills that are crucial for their future careers.  The students work together as a team and explore a given scientific topic and plan, program and test an autonomous robot to solve several missions.

FLL is for young people aged nine to 16 years, working in teams of up to ten with a supporting mentor. Each Autumn, FLL releases a new challenge for the teams.

The Irish leg of the global competition was launched in 2007 and is run by Robotics Ireland. This is currently the biggest robotics competition in Ireland!
